Out of Sight - Out of Mind: Protect our children from tobacco marketing from Cancer Society of New Zealand on Vimeo.
Cancer will affect one in every three New Zealanders at some stage during their lives.
The Cancer Society Auckland is here to provide support to cancer patients and their families, to prevent the onset of cancer, and to carry out scientific research into cancer.
We rely solely on the generosity of the public of Auckland and Northland for financial and volunteer support in order to provide these services. We do not accept direct Government funding as we do not wish to be compromised in any advocacy or lobbying we undertake.
We have been serving the communities of Auckland and Northland for 75 years and intend to go on meeting the needs of cancer patients and their families.
Cancer Society wins Plain English Language Award
Congratulations to the Editorial Team (Liz Wright from Auckland Division, Julie Holt at Wellington Division, Meg Biggs at Canterbury/West Coast Division and Sarah Stacy Baynes from National Office) for winning the Public Sector/Non-Governmental Organisation's best example of a Plain English document.
The Cancer Society understands how important it is to use plain language when writing information for people with cancer and their supporters. Plain language can empower people. It can help them understand their diagnosis, make treatment decisions and know where to go for support.
The Editorial Team has a robust process for producing their resources involving health professionals, people with cancer and the public. This Award acknowledges their work and the Society's commitment to plain language.
